Benefits with the Military

I've been doing some research about the military and the benefits that they get. I have friends that are joining and I've been thinking about the Air Force quite a bit lately so I figured I'd look into it a little more. The thing about the military, or in suck case Air Force so to speak. People are known to join for the uniform, schooling, and/or to serve our (so to speak) beloved free country. In my case and a few others its to learn about different cultures and travail. Maybe come out of my shell a little, become more independent and rely on myself a little more. But if I were to want my girlfriend and/or wife (whichever at the time) she wouldn't be able to get any of the military spouse benefits because I am a girl and so is she. If you are gay or lesbian you can't have your partner travail with you to where you are stationed unless they get a job of there own and live pretty much on there own. Oh and get this if I were to die while on leave the military would not pay for my spouse to come to my funeral, but they would pay for like my parents, sister, brother, and such but they will not pay for my partner of that which I married. I love that they got rid of the "don't ask don't tell" policy, but really people couldn't they have done a little more for us? I mean really think about it there are guys and galls out there that have to wait like six months just to see there partner because they can't afford to come with them and probably don't want to learn the language of where their loved one is stationed. Even at that they wouldn't be able to see them often because unless you are a certain rank you can't live off base unless your married to the opposite sex. In my eyes that's ridiculous. It's unfair to those troupes out there that do everything they can to keep everyone in the country safe. But do you see the country doing anything for them? Think about that for a second and tell me how you feel.
